PRETRYOUT SESSIONS

 

These clinics will focus on getting players ready for their upcoming hockey tryouts. Players will perform up tempo drills designed to increase his/her skill level by pushing them out of their comfort zone. Drills will focus on increasing the player’s ability to quick release the puck using their forehand and backhand shots. Every session will have a component of skating focusing on changing directions, edgework, first three steps, pivoting, exploding to open areas and conditioning for the upcoming season.  These skates will be a great addition to getting your player ready for tryouts. 
You can register for single sessions.  Please indicate the dates you would like to come to.

MINI SKATES

For players aged 4-10 who are beginner/intermediate in hockey and skating. These are NOT advanced clinics, however players must be able to stand and move independently on the ice! We will work on skills such as learning their edges (tight turns, changing direction), stopping, backwards skating, stick handling, shooting and other basic skills pertaining to skating and hockey skills.

JUNE SHOOTING CLINICS

Hockey clinics with full focus on shooting, stick handling, and skating.

Pucks will be on the ice the duration of practice; every drill is designed to work on all areas of the game. Every drill will end with a shot.

Players grouped on ice based on age / ability. For players aged 2008 to 2017

JULY SESSIONS

July 15th to 19th HALF DAY CAMP

Half day skates designed to work on your player’s game by breaking the sessions up into the following three parts:

Segment 1: Edgework. We will work on extending players’ strides, proper pivoting, increasing foot speed, transitioning from one direction to another, backwards skating, balance, coordination and more.

Segment 2: Stickhandling. We will work on improving the players quick hands, protecting the puck, learning to use all areas of the stick, and becoming more comfortable skating with the puck.

Segment 3: Shooting. Focus on weight transfer while shooting forehand, backhand, snap shots and one timers. We will educate players on areas to shoot to score and players will also learn how to pull and push the puck to improve their shooting angles.

We will also have a 1 hour game each day for some fun!

Location:     Niagara Falls Gale Centre

Schedule: Drop off 12 pm. On Ice from 1230 to 215 pm. Break. On Ice Game from 230 am to 330 pm. Pick up at 330 pm.

Ages: 2013 to 2017

These clinics are beneficial to any player, forward or defense. The main focus of these skates will all be defensemen specific drills. Players will learn how to correctly pivot, use tight turns to escape, work on passing properly, quick feet specific drills, how to angle properly, backwards skating, gap control and shooting.

This clinic is designed to work on all areas of a player’s ability to score goals. Focus will be placed on technique as players work on the following areas:

  • Quick release using their forehand and backhand.
  • Stickhandling in tight spaces using all areas of their stick.
  • Misdirection, learning how-to pick-up pucks with deception.
  • Protecting the puck.
  • Tight turn escaping with speed.
  • Shooting to score with accuracy.
  • Increasing foot speed.
  • Working on proper technique.
  •

3 on 3 SPRING/SUMMER HOCKEY:  

3 on 3 SPRING/SUMMER HOCKEY: ​

  • Designed to be a developmental program that works to match lines based on age and ability.
  • Full ice games. No place to hide for players and they have to become engaged.
  • Each team will have a maximum of 10 players. If all 10 players attend the game we’ll rotate around and some shifts will be 4 on 4. 
  • Instructors will help and encourage players to move the puck, get into open areas, and we’ll be offering advice to players.
  • Format allows for face pace hockey, with minimal whistles and changes on the horn.
  • Shift lengths changed on the horn. 1 minute plus shift length.

Advanced skates designed to help players get conditioned before the start of the their season or tryouts while working on specific skills.  The skates will be broken up into 3 parts:

These advanced clinics are beneficial to any player, forward or defence.  The main focus of these skates will all be defensemen specific drills.  Players will learn how to correctly pivot, use tight turns to escape, work on passing properly, quick feet specific drills, how to angle properly, backwards skating, gap control and shooting.  There will also be a focus on helping players learn how to read the play, especially in their own zone. 
 

Body Checking Clinics​

Body Checking Clinics

Clinics that are designed to instruct players on how to properly use body contact and will teach them how to protect themselves in different areas on the ice.  Drills will teach players how to angle opponents increasing their ability to separate the opposing player from the puck.  Players will work on pushing back and absorbing hits as they enter the boards, teaching them how they can use their body to protect themselves while in vulnerable areas.  Shooting, skating and stickhandling will also be incorporated into the skates.
